Traffic Control Operations

Course Overview

This course provides participants with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to control traffic with a stop/slow bat, communicate effectively in the workplace and work safely in accordance with workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures, and applies to those working in site-based traffic control roles.

This combined accredited program equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to safely perform traffic control duties on worksites. Covering three nationally recognised units of competency, it prepares individuals to control traffic using a stop/slow bat, communicate effectively with workmates and the public and apply workplace health and safety requirements in resources, infrastructure and civil construction environments.

This course is delivered by Industries Services Training, trading as IS Australia (RTO 0860) in partnership with LicensingTL. LicensingTL is responsible for the recruitment, enrolment, support and training of participants undertaking this course. Industries Services Training, trading as IS Australia (RTO 0860), is responsible for support, assessment and certification of all participants enrolled in this course.

COURSE DURATION

The full course is delivered over 5 days of training and assessment. This course delivers accredited units of competency that will include a blend of theory, practice and practical assessment.

Entry Requirements

  • Age: Minimum 18 years of age
  • Language/Literacy: Average reading and writing skills
  • Oral Communication
  • Have the necessary health and fitness to carry out the work safely
  • A USI is required for those completing the training in Australia; for those completing the course in Timor-Leste an exemption is applied

Course Outcome

On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded Statements of Attainment for the following three units of competency:
RIIWHS205E Control Traffic with a Stop/Slow Bat
RIICOM201E Communicate in the Workplace
RIIWHS201E Work Safely and Follow WHS Policies and Procedures

Please be advised that this course will not lead to an occupational licensed outcome in Australia. However the Timor-Leste regulator IGEADI does recognise this course under their framework.
