IS Australia (RTO 0860): How we collect, use and protect your personal information

IS Australia (Industries Services Training Pty Ltd, RTO 0860) is committed to protecting the privacy of all individuals whose personal information we hold. This notice explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1 What Personal Information We Collect
As a registered training organisation, we collect personal information necessary to manage your enrolment and deliver training and assessment services. This may include:
- Full name, date of birth, contact details (address, phone, email)
- Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Prior qualifications and training history
- Employment status and employer details (where relevant)
- Assessment records and results
- Disability or special needs information (where voluntarily disclosed for support purposes)
2 Why We Collect Your Information
We collect personal information to fulfil our obligations as a registered training organisation, including to:
- Process enrolments and manage your participation in training
- Deliver and assess vocational education and training (VET) courses
- Issue Statements of Attainment and qualifications
- Meet our reporting and compliance obligations under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (NVETR Act)
- Administer the Unique Student Identifier (USI) scheme
3 NCVER: National VET Data Obligations
Under the NVETR Act 2011, IS Australia is required to submit data about enrolled students to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER). This is a mandatory requirement for all RTOs operating within the national VET system.
NCVER uses this information to:
- Produce national statistics and research on VET participation and outcomes
- Inform VET policy, planning, and funding decisions
- Conduct approved research and evaluation
NCVER and its agents may contact you for survey purposes in connection with your participation in VET. You may opt out of such surveys by contacting NCVER directly. For NCVER’s Privacy Notice visit www.ncver.edu.au.
4 Other Disclosures
In addition to NCVER, IS Australia may be required or permitted to disclose your personal information to:
- Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), for VET funding and policy purposes
- State/Territory training authorities, for VET funding accountability and audit purposes
- ASQA, as required for regulatory compliance, audits, and registration purposes
- USI Registrar, to create and verify Unique Student Identifiers
- Third parties where required by law or with your written consent
IS Australia will not sell, lease, or trade your personal information to any commercial third party.
5 Security & Storage
IS Australia stores personal information securely using appropriate technical and administrative safeguards. Records are retained for the minimum period required under relevant legislation and then securely destroyed. Training records are retained for a period of 30 years in accordance with ASQA requirements.
6 Your Rights: Access, Correction & Complaints
Under the Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information IS Australia holds about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information
- Lodge a complaint about how your personal information has been handled
